Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Livingston is the gateway to Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone National Park lies 56 miles south of Livingston and is the oldest national park in the United States. Livingston was established as an early railroad town by The Northern Pacific Railroad. It served as the stopping point early in the 1900's for tourists heading to Yellowstone Park. Livingston has also become nationally known as a fly fishing destination for anglers from all over the world. Our blue ribbon trout stream known as the Yellowstone River runs right through town, and anglers may fish this river all year round. Local museums, art gallaries and a Carnegie Library all furnish history of the area and it's people. Many local residents boast a connection with Hollywood, some famous movies have been made in the area in recent years. "The River Runs Through It", and "The Horse Whisperer" are two. Come visit scenic Montana, stay awhile in Livingston and enjoy all that we have to offer.
